ProtoBot is a smart, palm-sized robot designed for anyone excited about building robots. This kit includes all the electronics, motors, and parts you need to bring it to life. Offered in two maker levels, making it accessible for everyone, from curious students to experienced makers.
Choose Your Maker Level:
-
Beginner: Comes pre-soldered — simply screw the parts together and start driving instantly - No tools required
-
Pro: Build the robot from scratch - solder the electronics yourself, assemble everything, and optionally 3D-print your own custom shell. This option requires a Soldering-Iron, to solder the motors and electronics, and a 3D printer if you choose to print your own robot shell
What You’ll Build & Explore:
- Assemble a fully working robot with motors, wheels, sensors, and lights
- Drive ProtoBot using the free educational MicroLink App, available on both Android or iOS devices, featuring:
-
Drive & Rewind: Control it with a joystick or retrace your path
-
Shape & Automate: Use block coding to make ProtoBot draw shapes or run custom actions
-
Dodge & Avoid: Let it react to obstacles using its built-in sensors
-
Sense & Balance: Watch how it uses sensors to balance, steer, or drive in patterns
-
Record: Attach external I²C sensors (like temp, humidity, etc.) and log real-time data
- Learn & Hack: Expand ProtoBot with external modules or code your own behaviors using the Arduino library
What's Inside Every ProtoBot Kit:
- CodeCell C6 Drive with FlexPCB stickery-base (avoiding wires and adding RGB eye-lights, proximity sensing & motor connections)
- 4 × N20 motors with aluminium wheels + silicone tyres
- Breadboard mount for extra sensor expansion
- All included screws with a free Screwdriver
Made for Makers
ProtoBot’s body and accessories are fully open-source. You can 3D-print the shell at home with your-favorite colors, or modify the files to design new add-ons. The included breadboard lets you attach extra I²C sensors, displays, chargers, or your own circuits - turning ProtoBot into a tiny, powerful playground for learning and experimentation. Want to go further? ProtoBot also includes an optional Arduino library with ready-to-run examples so you can create your own behaviours, read sensors, activate lights, and program your own missions.
ProtoBot is made to support your learning journey - from building and assembling your robot to soldering, coding, and experimenting with real sensors and hardware.
