All you need to start experimenting with CoilPad – our thinnest magnetic sticker actuator at just 0.1mm! Add organic motion, heat, sound, or sensing to your projects with this flexible, stick-anywhere coil.

What’s Inside the Box:

  • 🧠 CodeCell Light – A tiny smart controller packed with sensors and wireless control.
  • DriverCell x4 – Power modules that can drive current through each CoilPad.
  • 🌀 CoilPad x10 – Ultra-thin magnetic sticker actuators, flexible with up to 18mm bend radius.

Why You’ll Love It:

  • 🚀 Quick Experiments – Set up your first magnetic motion or heating test in minutes.
  • 🪛 Simple Assembly – Just a bit of soldering and everything else is included – even the tiny screws.
  • 📱 No Code Needed – Control the strength or speed straight out of the box - Just pair the CodeCell with your phone using our free MicroLink app.
  • 💡 Optional Customization – Learn and customize your project further, using the CodeCell's Arduino library to make your project interactive with it's built-in light and proximity sensor, or even add wireless control.

What You Can Make:

  • 🦢 Origami Vibration – Bring paper creatures to life – just stick on a CoilPad, add a magnet, and watch them swing!
  • 🎁 Secret Buzzers GIft – Add hidden feedback or buzzing songs to greeting cards, invites or gifts.
  • ♨️ Micro Heaters – Use as a gentle warming surface for your experimental prototypes.
  • Wireless LEDs – Induce small currents in nearby CoilPad to power up an LED!
  • 🌀 Kinetic Signs – Add vibration or smooth motion to your paper notes.
  • 🧲 DIY Metal Detectors – Use the coil’s magnetic field to detect nearby metal objects.
Frequently Asked Questions CodeCell FAQs
How do I get started?

Go from unboxing to testing in minutes. Just connect the modules with simple soldering and power up the CodeCell — no programming required. Use your phone via the MicroLink app, to control motion angle and speed. Optionally, customize the code using the Arduino IDE to make your project interactive with built-in light and proximity sensors, or even add wireless control.

Can two CoilPads repel each other?

CoilPad can attract and repel magnets by generating a magnetic field. However, the field it creates is much weaker than the magnetic field of a magnet. As a result, the forces generated are primarily due to the magnet. Unfortunately, this means two CoilPads cannot attract or repel each other.

How fast can a CoilPad actuate?

This depends on the magnet you're using and the actuation distance you're trying to achieve, but it typically peaks at 25Hz.

Why does it need a DriveCell?

Want to Make It Vibrate? To do that, you can’t power it directly through the CodeCell’s GPIO pins. You’ll need to drive it with transistors - like an H-Bridge - to reverse polarity and control its position. This usually requires bulky circuitry, but our compact DriveCell module makes it easy to use and is only 0.8 cm wide!

Think of the CodeCell as the brain, sending PWM signals to tell the DriveCell exactly what to do.

How hard is it to solder?

Both CodeCell and DriveCell features standard 2.54mm pitch pins which are castellated - This makes it super easy to solder together, with wires or pin-headers!

What ages is the CoilPad Discovery Pack suitable for?

This Pack is perfect for anyone curious about electronics! It comes with an easy to use App and examples, making it easier to get started. Since soldering is required, we recommend ensuring that soldering is done under proper adult supervision and guidance for children under 12. Please also note that the package includes small parts, like screws, so care should be taken when handling them.
